The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I have enjoyed pursuing science and engineering that the College of Earth & Mineral Science prepared me for. My work allowed me to pursue different roles (nuclear engineer, welding engineer, corrosion scientist, coatings scientist, environmental engineer), travel around the country, write and present papers, and even win a patent in July 2008 (a lifelong dream). I still consult for the USN on shipbuilding and though the little business I helped form struggles, we have some interesting ideas and products for making the world healthier and safer. My greatest accomplishment is my daughter who graduates from Interlochen Arts Academy in May and earned a full ride to Guilford College (Penn State appeared too big for her). When she is in town, we enjoy our little house in Arlington and participate in American Clan Gregor and Scottish heritage events. We traveled to Scotland in June 2006 where we discovered that my 3rd-great grandfather was a black smith (Metallurgist!) in Crail, a little North Sea port town where he probably made ship parts like his ancestor is doing 200 years later.
